Your First Visit
Visiting any church, for the very first time can be a tough experience. Where to go? What to wear? What time to show up? What's here for my kids? What can I expect? Well, we want to put you at ease. Your first visit to Heritage Baptist Church will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. We want you to experience inspiring music, helpful teaching and preaching, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and "at home"! Here are a few answers to your questions and what you might expect on your first visit.
Finding our location
We are located at 1608 Highway 59 in Jefferson, TX
We are right on Highway 59 on the south side of Jefferson. Our church is easy to find if you can find Jefferson. Sometimes our address does not work in a GPS, so be careful about that.
Finding nurseries and Connection Groups
We would like to help you find the appropriate nurseries, classes, and service for every person in your family. Our greeters and ushers are located in the lobby and will gladly help direct and even escort you to the right place.
What's here for my kids?
Starting with the nurseries, there is something special for every age child from birth through college! At every service there are safe, clean nurseries for children three years old and under. For children four years old through sixth grade there are fun, friendly, and Bible-centered classes on Sunday mornings. For student's seventh grade through twelfth grade, there are fun and exciting Bible Classes at their level.
What's the Sunday morning schedule?
All the Bible Classes begin at 10:00am. Plan to arrive a few minutes early so that we can help direct your family to the correct nurseries or groups. This will also give you some time to meet the teachers of your family's classes. The Sunday morning worship service starts at 11:00am.
What's on the schedule for adults, and what should I expect?
The best way to get to know people at Heritage Baptist Church is to visit our Adult Bible Class where you will get practical, relevant Bible teaching. Most adults then will then attend the worship service, where they will enjoy Godly music and uplifting services. The music is always followed by a clear, helpful, and challenging Bible message from Pastor Buckner. This service around one hour in length.
How should I dress?
There is not a dress code at Heritage Baptist Church for members or guests. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable on your visit here! None of us are perfect at Heritage, and we do not expect you to be either!
Are there services at other times?
Yes. We have a Sunday evening service (completely different from Sunday morning) that begins at 6:00pm. Again, in this service you'll enjoy the special music as well as a challenging and helpful message from Pastor Buckner. We also meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm for a mid-week Bible study in our fellowship hall. If you can't be our guest on Sunday morning, we hope you'll visit with us during another service time. You can go to our church Facebook page and view a recent service to get more comfortable with how we do a service.
Am I expected to participate in the offering?
No. We don't invite you to Heritage Baptist Church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God's Word, and a place where you can grow in God's grace. Please don't feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest. If there's something we missed on this list, just give us a call, email us, or ask someone when you arrive.
Are the services live-streamed?
Yes! We live stream on our church Facebook page and to our church YouTube channel. Feel free to view our latest services and get a feel for what attending Heritage is like.
Whether you're new to the area and looking for a church home, or if it's been a long time since you've attended church at all, we hope your first visit at Heritage Baptist Church will be awesome! We exist to serve the Lord, you, and your family, and we are looking forward to meeting you personally.
We hope you'll feel right at home from the very first moment you arrive! Let us know how we can serve you better, and we hope to meet you this Sunday!
